Psalm 62

God Is a Refuge for Us

For the choir director. According to
Cf. 1 Chr 16:41; 25:1; Ps 39 and 77 titles
Jeduthun. A Psalm of David.

1Surely my soul waits in silence for God;
From Him is my salvation.
2Surely He is my rock and my salvation,
My stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken.
3How long will you assail a man,
That you may murder him, all of you,
Like a leaning wall, like a fence thrust down?
4Surely they have counseled to thrust him down from his high position;
They find pleasure in falsehood;
They bless with
Lit his
their mouth,
But inwardly they curse.
Selah may mean Pause, Crescendo, Musical Interlude
Selah.
5Surely wait in silence for God, O my soul,
For my hope is from Him.
6Surely He is my rock and my salvation,
My stronghold; I shall not be shaken.
7On God my salvation and my glory rest;
The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God.
8Trust in Him at all times, O people;
Pour out your heart before Him;
God is a refuge for us. Selah.
9Surely
Lit sons of men
men of low degree are merely vanity and
Lit sons of men of rank
men of rank are a lie;
In the balances they go up;
They are together lighter than a breath of vanity.
10Do not trust in oppression
And do not put vain hope in robbery;
If riches increase, do not set your heart upon them.
11
Or One thing
Once God has spoken;
Or These two things I have heard
Twice I have heard this:
That strength belongs to God;
12And that to You, O Lord, belongs lovingkindness,
For You repay a man according to his work.
